Plastics as an industry in Sri Lanka is around half a century old, and Phoenix Industries is the country’s premier plastic injection-moulding company. Our modern 20,000 m2 manufacturing plant is equipped with sophisticated injection-moulding and blow-moulding machinery, and fully-automated PET line. As the leading and the largest plastic-manufacturing company in the island, Phoenix produces an extensive range of plastic ware, including furniture, crates, household articles, toothbrushes, rigid packaging, etc.
Established in 1976, Phoenix was the first company in South-East Asia to introduce the novel high-tech in-mould labelling. We also operate our own in-house research and development division, a fully-equipped quality assurance division and a mould-manufacturing workshop. Our current customer portfolio includes Unilevers, Chevron, Hemas, CCS, Cargills, Carlsberg, Reckitt Benckiser, Glaxo-Smith Kline, Nestle, Coca-Cola, Olé and Pepsi
The phoenix is a mythical bird that is a fire spirit. At the end of its lifecycle, the bird burns fiercely and is reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix arises, reborn anew to live again. Such goes the story of Phoenix Industries.
It was 1976, the year that plastic was voted the leading news event of the century and acknowledged as the most used material the world over. Unabashed by the economic situation and adverse investment climate, Mr. M H Omar had just bought a small, derelict factory equipped with outdated machinery. His vision was to resurrect it into a splendid, state of the art manufacturing facility producing an extensive range of plastic products. Within a short time, a restoration was effected and, true to its name, today Phoenix is Sri Lanka’s leading manufacturer of plastic injection moulded and blow moulded products. Phoenix products now reach Australian buyers, while markets in Europe and other parts of the globe are being explored.
